The untitled project comes from producer Jon Shestack, who told Variety, “Lisa Frank’s world is cheerful, it’s optimistic, it’s hip, but it is without snark”. As someone who grew up with Lisa Frank products (such as notebooks and stickers), I’m excited to see her colorful and magic images on the big screen.
Shestack goes on to explain, “I have always wanted to do a feature film that brings the world of Lisa Frank to life”. Adding, “we have so much backstory on our characters and they have been alive in my imagination since the beginning.”
Variety reports that the producers plan to develop the package independently with UTA Independent Film Group to represent the film.
