To be completely honest, I think this audiences should go into Spider-Man: Brand New Day with zero expectations and without watching or reading any reviews. Allow the twists and turns to be revealed naturally. That said, if you’re looking for a review on this web-slinging new chapter in Tom Holland’s tenure as Spider-Man, I’m here to tell you this: Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a very fun ride! Alongside Holland in this spider-verse is Zendaya, delightfully embodying her role as Michelle “MJ” Jones-Watson, with Jacob Batalon returning as Ned Leeds.
It seems vital to remember that last time we saw the wall-crawler on the big screen, Peter Parker was erased from everyone’s memory in No Way Home – Spider-Man remained, but Parker no longer existed. Now, he’s all alone and battling not only a new, powerful enemy, but something monsterous happening within himself.
Without providing any further details as to what viewers can expect, it’s safe to say that Spider-Man: Brand New Day has a two hour and twenty-five minute run time, there’s a single post-credit scene at the very end (and truthfully it was a let down/unnecessary to stay through all the credits for). Jon Bernthal shows up to growl and shoot things as Frank Castle (aka The Punisher) and Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner/Hulk also appears in the film. Severance‘s Tramell Tillman and Stranger Things alum Sadie Sink are also there. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is super enjoyable with a high-flying action-packed adventure, showcasing killer action and stunts, and even a lot of moving moments (that I’m not ashamed to admit had me tearing up).
If you enjoy the MCU for the cool fights, clever uses of powers, and quippy writing, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is absolutely going to be considered a great addition to the roster.
