One of the most beloved activations at SDCC in recent years has been The Lodge by Paramount+. Each year the streamer shows off a ton of properties, including Star Trek, but this year also included not-comic-con fare, like Dutton Ranch and UFC. Usually, the press preview for The Lodge marks the unofficial start of SDCC, but this year the activation lacked it’s something special – Avatar Aang photo op felt like a hallway between activities, the South Park photo-op was boring (and lewd), and the “customizable swag” portion was poorly managed with volunteers forcefully selecting your choice for you.
The true highlight of the event was the alien DJ, who broke out a live sax performance! Plus, for the true Star Trek fans, in the corner was a transporter photo-op.
