REVIEW: Shazam!

Zachary Levi stars in Shazam! the latest DC superhero to grace the big screen. Warner Brothers continues their venture out of dark and broody origin stories meant for Fanboy viewers, and into fun entertainment for the whole family.

The movie, which is rated pg-13, opens a bit dark before taking a turn for the goofy. While bouncing between the two tones, actors Asher Angel and Jack Dylan Grazer are phenomenal in grounding such a fantastical story. Generally a fun movie, Shazam! has cool action, witty banter, fun meta moments, and a truly phenomenal cast.

Not enough can be said about the supporting stars, from Djimon Hounsou’s wizard to Cooper Andrews as foster dad Victor Vasquez, to little Faithe Herman. They truly build the magical yet grounded world in which Shazam! is able to be wonderous and believable.

Truly fun and exciting, funny and adventurous, Shazam! is ideal for anyone junior high and older.
