According to THR, in a statement released by Showtime the network stated, “We are incredibly proud to have shared the story of Masters and Johnson for four critically acclaimed seasons. The series will remain available across our platforms where new viewers can discover it for years to come.”
The series, which chronicled the life sex researchers Dr. William Masters and Virginia Johnson, based on Thomas Maier’s biography, ends after it’s fourth season where Masters & Johnson’s finally got married. Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan starred in the period drama alongside Caitlin FitzGerald, Annaleigh Ashford and Teddy Sears.
I personally loved this show. Not only because of the slew of amazing guest stars (Allison Janney, Jocko Sims, and Sara Silverman to name a few), or the talented performances, but also because of the subject matter. Dr Masters and Ms Johnson were pioneers and under appreciated for their contributions.
Thank you Showtime for telling this story.
