REVIEW: Disney's The BFG – Movie Review and Official Trailer

Based on the beloved children’s novel (seriously, this book meant the world to me when I was growing up) Disney’s The BFG (aka The Big Friendly Giant) is a must-see for the family!

The film, directed by Steven Spielberg and based on the best-selling book by Roald Dahl, is not only beautiful and heartwarming, but also hilarious!

Mark Rylance’s performance as The BFG himself is quite endearing. It’s not easy to bring such a large and lovable creature to life, but Rylance makes you forget that you’re watching a computer animated being. And the young Ruby Barnhill (Sophie) was phenomenal! I can’t remember the last time a movie used 3D in such a vividly enchanting way – they layered environment made me long for my childhood.

I feel it necessary to mention that my absolute favorite scene in this film was actually a good 10 minute build-up to a fart joke (I’m sure that tells you a lot about me, but hey, it’s true).

The BFG hits theaters on July 1st. Check out the trailer below
