The latest installment of Marvel’s Avengers franchise gathers our group of heroes once again to save humanity from a non-human threat. This time though, the villain is Ultron (voiced by James Spader) – an Artificial Intelligence program created by IronMan/Tony Stark himself.
Ultron’s purpose was to protect humanity and create peace once-and-for-all, which it then interperates as wiping the slate clean of humanity and starting over. I feel like this idea is almost as over used as AI turning on it’s masters. “Fear the robots, but also we must reflect upon humanity.”
The action flick opens with our Avengers already on a mission to recover Loki’s staff (which is explained in ABC’s Agents of SHIELD), as they close in on the item we meet “The Twins” aka Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. We then continue with fight sequence after fight sequence between robots, powered people, and highly trained soldiers.
In this chapter we are (finally) given a look into Hawkeye’s life. Plus a romance is brewing between Black Widow and Bruce Banner… speaking of Banner – it seems that Black Widow is the only one who can control the Hulk… which I feel invalidated the Hulk.
Overall, this is a steller film of superhero excitement starring our beloved Avengers, Scarlett Johannson, Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, and Mark Ruffalo; and our new allies Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
Mavel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron is in now playing.
