Nerds and geeks used to be considered the outsiders — and to some, they still are — but with Marvel making superheroes mainstream, Star Wars consistently releasing original content, and the expansion of fantasy universes like Game of Thrones, there’s no surprise that Hollywood is bursting with themed spaces.
Inspired by hit movies like the Mad Max franchise, the Walking Dead and Last of Us series’, and the popularity of Fallout, the newest addition to the themed collection is the immersive post-apocalyptic cocktail bar and restaurant The Last Canteen, in Studio City. With a fantastic location, mouth-watering seasonal menu and artisanal cocktails, The Last Canteen is leaning into their strengths!
Other nerd-themed ventures include whimsical The Witch’s Cottage, a magical cafe and restaurant in the North Hollywood arts district, breathing a new life into The Federal building. Burbank’s Star Wars expansion of intergalactic bar, Scum & Villainy Cantina, and of course the barcade Player One in North Hollywood and table-top libation location Guildhall in Burbank. For a non-alcoholic spot, there’s the classic Horror Vibes Coffee, and although it’s temporarily closed, rumor is that Roguelike Tavern will be reopening this summer.
