BOOKS: Slap Shot (D.C. Stars, #3) by Chelsea Curto – Review via GoodLittleLibraryMouse

I went into this story nearly blind – I knew it was a hockey romance, and I knew the FMC’s daughter was Deaf. That’s it.
I came out with a new book boyfriend because Hudson is utter perfection! From his patience with Madeline’s broken heart to his gentle compassion and unwavering support of Mads and Lucy.
I spent the first 25% worried I was reading a closed door romance because the burn was sooo slooow, neither Hudson nor Madeline seemed to have noticed how hot they found each other. But once the spice hit, it was steamy af. Not just that, it felt so realistic to have these characters talking during their intimate scenes, checking with each other, and making sure they were fully into everything they were doing.
By 85% I was sobbing over how beautiful their relationship was. And topping this book off with hilarious banter – not just between the main characters, but also their friends and the group chats – brought this book to an easy 5 stars.
While I haven’t read the other books in this series, nor have I read this author previously, I look forward to further exploring the DC Stars… in particular the Coach because I’m a sucker for an age gap.

About:
Hudson Hayes, star defenseman for the DC Stars, needs help. He’s been looking for a private chef for months but keeps coming up short. With the NHL season starting and no prospects in sight, he’s close to giving up. Madeline Galloway needs a job. Recently let go from her executive chef position in Las Vegas, she’s desperate as can be when she reaches out to an old acquaintance about a possible job opportunity…. in DC.
Slap Shot is a spicy slow burn friends to lovers, private chef x hockey player romance with forced proximity and a man who if he wanted to, he would.
