BREAKING NEWS!

Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie are set to star in a television drama mini-series based on the book The Night Manager, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It will air on the BBC or one of its affiliate stations while multiple US networks are currently bidding for the right to air it for their viewers.

The Night Manager is the story of a British soldier turned night manager for a luxurious hotel, Jonathan Pine, who meets and French-Arab woman named Sophie who is connected to an English blackmarketer in the weapons business named Onslow Roper. Death, mystery, espionage ensue. It will be marvelous.

This story comes from the same mind who brought us the stories of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and The Constant Gardner. People often commented that Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy was too slow to keep one’s attention, but this blogger enjoyed it very much. It kept your mind in a tizzy as you tried to deduce who was the bad guy in the slow moving thriller. Also, might I remind you, there was a blonde 70’s hair styled Benedict Cumberbatch playing alongside greats such as Colin Firth, Gary Oldman, Mark Strong, and Cieran Hinds that helped keep my interest piqued.

There have been no details yet regarding which actor will play which role, and I’ve never read the book, but I would harbor to guess that Hiddleston will play Pine while Laurie will be Roper. I could be completely wrong. I don’t know and I don’t care. I’m just looking forward to seeing the two of them together on screen. No word yet on who might play Sophie or if there will be any other big names to fill other roles.

No word yet on when this drama will grace our small screens, but I will keep you posted as more news becomes available.

God save the Queen
